As a Southern California local, I’ve been to San Diego many times before, but this time I wanted to find some brand new places to explore. San Diego is so much more than a beach town so I wanted to put together an adventure-filled itinerary with plenty of time to enjoy the amazing food San Diego has to offer as well as take in the local art & culture.
If you’re looking for a place to stay while you’re here, I would highly recommend staying at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. It was the perfect home base for me while I explored San Diego. The resort had such a timeless charm that was clear from the second I stepped foot into the lobby. There were also so many amenities to make my stay as comfortable as possible and it really felt like home during my stay. The pool was absolutely stunning and the hot tub overlooks the world-renowned Torrey Pines golf course so you can have a front-row seat to watch all of the action on the green. The best part is that it’s situated in a great central location that puts you close to all of the best spots in San Diego.
I spent the weekend looking for new perspectives in San Diego but I ended up finding so much more. There’s such a wide variety of things to do and one of the things that surprised me most about my visit was all of the adventurous activities to do here. San Diego really impressed me with all of its hidden gems and I grew to appreciate this place so much more.
Here are 3 things you have to do when you visit San Diego:
1. Hike around Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and explore the area’s unique landscapes. There are so many different trails here so you really can’t go wrong!
2. Visit the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla to take in all of the incredible art exhibits. The exhibits change year-round so there’s always something new to see!
3. Catch an epic sunset at Scripps Pier and take in the views around you. The symmetry of this pier makes it extra unique and stunningly beautiful to photograph. Come during golden hour and stay until sunset for the best experience.
I wanted to live like a local for a weekend here and I can definitely say I’ve developed a newfound appreciation for this incredible city. If you’re looking for adventure, a great local food scene, fascinating art exhibits, and an all-around amazing time, be sure to add San Diego to your list!
